HOW CAN I HELP?

1. Enroll as a CAH member or make a donation.

Go to our website "Enroll or Donate NOW!" page and either enroll as a member or make a donation, both of which are tax deductible.

2. At the request of our families, write Parole Opposition Letters to keep convicted murderers in prison.

To find out about Parole Oppostion Letter Requests, either become a CAH member or make a donation so that you recieve the CAH monthly newsletter. Or, go to our website, "Parole Opposition Letter Request" page.

Thus far CAH has a 100% success rate in keeping murderers who come up for parole in prison. For continued success, we need your help!

3. Contribute website and social media design expertise.

We are always interested in suggestions on how to strengthen the effectiveness of our website. And, in order to publicize our services more broadly, we are interested in exploring opportunities to implement a social media campaign. We need someone with an interest in managing our E-newsletter, mailing list, etc.

4. Come to the CAH monthly meetings and volunteer for work projects.

If you live near the San Francisco Bay Area, come to our meeting held at 10 a.m. at 302 4th St., San Rafael, CA, the second Sunday of most months. Please knock on the front street window located to the left of the complex locked gate and we'll welcome you in.

5. Arrange a matching gift donation.

Matching gifts double the impact of your donation and enable us to help twice as many people. Please check with your employer's Human Resources Department about any matching gifts program and request the forms to accompany your gift.

6. Hold a small private fundraiser for CAH.

For example, host a private fundraiser dinner in your home or at a local restaurant. Or, your children may want to initiate a donation project at their school. You can call 415/455-5944 if you would like to discuss your fundraiser beforehand and we could supply brochures, newsletters, and CAH merchandise to sell.

7. Donate items for the CAH annual fund raising silent auction.

Each August we hold our Annual CAH Charity Golt Classic. At this event, we conduct a silent auction. We would be grateful for donations such as cases of wine, golf balls/golf equipment, gift food baskets and travel discounts. Because the event is held in the San Francisco Bay area, we would also appreciate local area restaurant gift certificates, store gift certificates and tickets for professional sporting events and concerts.

8. Vote for public office candidates who support laws and goals of victim rights organizations.

Do your homework. Stay informed of the voting record of your
elected officials and vote for those who advocate public safety as a priority. Educate yourself on candidates for local, state and national office. Ask, "Where do you stand on public safety and victims rights?" Vote accordingly.

9. Write to Governor Schwarzenegger requesting that he appoint commissioners to the Board of Parole Hearings (Lifer Unit), who support victim rights:

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger

State Capital Building

Sacramento, CA 95814

Stay informed of legislative membership on the California Senate Rules Committee. These are elected officials who vote on confirmation of commissioners to the Board of Parole Hearings. Let your elected officials know that 'victim rights' is of paramount importance to Parole Board member confirmations:

11. Donate grant research and writing expertise.

If you have expertise in grant research and writing, we would be interested in grants from charitable foundations, federal grant programs and others. Call us at 415/455-5944 and speak to Jan Miller to define the types of grants of interest to CAH.

12. I have more questions, what should I do?

Please contact us! We would be happy to answer your questions.
