Thank you for signing our previous petition asking the California Board of Parole Hearings to deny parole to Jose Gonzalez, who murdered an innocent couple, Essie and James Effron, on the eve of their retirement.
As we have previously reported, in July 2017 the board denied parole and ordered that Gonzalez not have another hearing for three years. Despite that determination, a new parole hearing has been set for just a year-and-a-half later, on February 27, 2019. That was done as part of the board’s program to help ease prison overcrowding by giving dangerous criminals an additional opportunity to get back on the street.
For the hearing in February, we again need your help to show the board that the public is adamantly opposed to parole being granted to Gonzalez. So, we have created a new petition, asking that he be kept behind bars. Here is a link to the petition: https://www.change.org/p/california-board-of-parole-hearings-deny-parole-to-jose-gonzalez-cdc-no-b94419-february-27-2019-8-30-a-m
To help keep us all safe from this dangerous man, please sign the petition. You may also add a comment, if you would like to do so. Your e-mail address will not appear when the petition is submitted to the parole board.
This update is being sent to everyone who signed our previous petition in 2017. If you already have signed the new petition, we thank you.

“After signing the petition, you may see a page inviting you to make a donation to Change.org. If you do that, your contribution will go to Change.org, not to the Effron family. You are not required to make a donation, and your signature will appear on the petition
whether or not you contribute any money.”
